Opportunity seekers are all around us and many of us are opportunity seekers right now or have been in the past. I know that this may not be what you want to hear because we were told that opportunity seekers are the target market. If you open any one of the work -at-home magazines and turn to the back, there you will find a section of ads that are placed there hoping to catch the eyes of opportunity seekers.
They range from all kinds of promises to make you the riches, laziest, most sought after guru in the world to virtually guaranteeing you that you can have any memeber of the opposite sex that your little heart desires. The opportunity seeker will see the ads and something on the inside of their mind would click and have them to believe that it is just this easy and they can have all of these promises.
An opportunity seeker is always looking for their big opportunity to make lots of money from the hot opportunity of the moment. Their only criteria is, “Can I make money from this?” So today it‟s Adsense, tomorrow it’s mp3’s, and yesterday it was playstations. Opportunity seekers buy all types of so called “easy” money making products and never master none. They simply want to know what is the easiest way for me to make money at the present time?
That kind of thought process is very similar to the lottery mentality. You know the kind of mentality that have s you thinking that you can pay $29.95 for this ebook and it will unleash upon you greatness and now you will be the super guru that everyone turns to for leadership and guidance. Oh, by the way it will make you obscenly rich. That happens to be the mind of an opportunity seeker.
An entrepreneur, on the other hand, is a completely different animal altogether. An entrepreneur has a vision of what they want their business to become. Because they have a vision they know their own weakness, their competitor strengths, the marketplace preferences and devise different strategies for achieving their vision. The entrepreneur knows where their biggest opportunity is and how to exploit that for maximum profits.
The opportunity seeker will be an easier target to sell to than an entrepreneur. Why? Because the opportunity seeker has no criteria – if you can convince him or her that they can make money with it, you’ve made your sale. An entrepreneur, on the other hand, has to compare what you are offering to their current plans – Does this product stay with in bounds of my vision and make it easier to reach? Is this something that is better than what you are currently using.
So the question remains, are you an opportunity seeker or an entrepreneur?
